Abstract

This study focuses on analyzing educational management within the region's and the country's educational institutions, grounded in the requirements of the ISO 21001:2025 standards. These standards promote a process-based approach aimed at developing, implementing, and improving the effectiveness of an educational quality management system, with the goal of optimizing management to enhance the real value of educational quality in student development. The study proposes the practical application of the documented procedures suggested by these standards, as well as the implementation of a process-based management system capable of being validated at any time by an international certifying body established for this purpose.

In the city of Cuenca, Ecuador, there is evidence of very few educational institutions certified under ISO 9001:2015 (which focuses on general quality), yet there are no institutions certified under the specific educational quality standard ISO 21001:2025. This highlights the importance of this topic as a logistical support for the continuous improvement of the academic environment. Furthermore, it is essential to share the foundational structure of a process-based management system so that institutional leaders can better organize and characterize their activities. This enables the adoption of effective work methods that save time, money, and resources; improve operational performance; reduce errors and increase benefits; motivate staff and boost their commitment through more efficient internal processes; and expand opportunities for innovation-driven development, among other advantages.
