1. General Principle

Killkana Sociales Journal requires the transparent disclosure of conflicts of interest from authors, reviewers, and members of the editorial team in order to ensure the integrity, objectivity, and impartiality of the editorial process.

2. Definition of Conflict of Interest

A conflict of interest is defined as any personal, academic, institutional, or financial relationship or situation that may improperly influence the preparation, evaluation, or publication of a manuscript.

Such conflicts may be real, potential, or perceived.

3. Authors’ Responsibilities

Authors must:

  • Disclose any conflict of interest at the time of manuscript submission
  • Report funding sources, institutional affiliations, or relationships that may influence the results
  • Include an explicit conflict of interest statement within the manuscript

If no conflicts exist, authors must state:
“The authors declare no conflicts of interest.”

4. Reviewers’ Responsibilities

Reviewers must:

  • Declare any conflict of interest before accepting the review assignment
  • Refrain from participating in the review process if a conflict may compromise objectivity
  • Maintain confidentiality throughout the process

5. Editorial Responsibilities

The Editorial Board and editors must:

  • Avoid participating in editorial decisions when a conflict of interest exists
  • Ensure an impartial and fair evaluation process
  • Manage identified conflicts in a transparent manner

6. Types of Conflicts of Interest

Conflicts of interest may include, but are not limited to:

  • Financial: funding, sponsorships, contracts
  • Academic: co-authorship, recent collaborations
  • Institutional: affiliation with the same institution
  • Personal: family or personal relationships

7. Procedures for Managing Conflicts of Interest

In cases where a conflict of interest is identified:

  • The nature and extent of the conflict will be assessed
  • The manuscript may be reassigned to different reviewers or editors
  • Additional information may be requested from the authors

In serious cases, the manuscript may be rejected.

8. Transparency and Disclosure

When applicable, conflicts of interest will be disclosed in the final published article to ensure transparency for readers.
