Abstract

The oroantral communication pathological condition is the non-natural space formed between the maxillary sinus and the oral cavity, which occurs due to the loss of soft and hard tissues as a result of iatrogenic disorders, dental infections, trauma, osteomyelitis, apical lesions, or as a consequence of a foreign substance, normally exogenous, such as endodontic filling materials, which causes a possible inflammatory response that results in an acute or chronic maxillary sinusitis of dental source. The pedicled adipose ball of the Bichat flap produces a large blood supply, which makes it useful in oroantral communication repairs, and it can be used simultaneously for significant flaws when covered and sutured with oral mucosa as a double layer. Case Report: A surgical procedure was done on a 30-year-old female patient with oroantral communication to close this defect with a buccal fat pad or Bichat.
