Abstract

In the context of a transformation of the productive matrix, the work tries to understand the dynamics of the productive matrix of the province of Morona Santiago located in the Ecuadorian Amazon and the main characteristics of the different models and definitions of sustainability.  The aim is to recognise the main characteristics of the products of the productive matrix that are relevant in the province and to analyse their potential, always with a view to their sustainability. The main methodology used is the PBL which was complemented with bibliographic and documentary review. From the information collected, the following conclusions were drawn: sustainability is important for the development of projects, the Amazon has a slight advantage over the Amazonian countries despite the limitations it has, the proposal as a solution to this situation is the implementation of ecological tourism and cultural tourism in the region
