Abstract

In Ecuador, there is no specific normative text that refers to the advance directive or living will,
however, there are dispersed legal bodies that regulate the health care system, in them it is
sought that legally capable people have the right to make decisions about one's own health,
body and life directly linked to the right to perform acts with knowledge of the cause, know
what the purpose of any examination or treatment is, enough information about the
consequences of its will, and in the absence of internal or external coercion.
