Abstract

The objective of this research was to analyze the competitiveness of the Ecuadorian vegetable oil sector in the international market. The data were collected from official sources such as the Central Bank of Ecuador, TradeMap, and the World Economic Forum. This information allowed for the identification of the factors that play a role in the international competitiveness in which Ecuador is situated. The analysis was made possible through the application of statistical models, which provided a comprehensive view of the relationship between real values and the estimates obtained to predict the value of the explanatory variable "FOB_exportado," based on the variability of the behavior of the considered explanatory variables. Contrasting the hypotheses posed about competitiveness led to conclusions, such as the importance and necessity of the conducted comparison. This was explained by the relationship and dependence of quantitative and qualitative factors, leading to the determination of Ecuador's competitive position compared to its competitors in the global market.
