Abstract
Canine retention is an anomaly in which the tooth is prevented from erupting either by bone or by adjacent teeth. This retention can be considered when its eruption is considerably delayed and there is clinical or radiographic evidence that it will not continue with it. It is also mentioned that it is one that has not erupted after the complete development of its root or if the contralateral has erupted and at least 6 months have passed since its complete formation. This is one of the most prevalent problems since the upper canines are the teeth that are most frequently impacted in the permanent dentition after third molars. Objective: Identify the appropriate interceptive treatment in patients with retained canines in the upper maxillary reported in the literature.
