Abstract

In 2021, the Institutional Quality and Evaluation Directorate took on the challenge of cultivating a culture of quality that would allow it to prepare for the Institutional Self-Assessment process with a view to Accreditation since the National University of Education has not yet participated in an External Assessment process by the Council for Quality Assurance in Higher Education. The general objective of this activity was to carry out a process of analysis and self-reflection on the fundamental functions and institutional conditions that support the proper functioning of the university, based on a participatory methodology involving various departments, which, due to its collaborative essence, was called "Dialogues for Quality." During this process, the university community was informed about the External Evaluation Model for Universities and Polytechnic Schools of the Council for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (2019), with the objective that each unit assumes leadership and responsibility for the quality standards relevant to its functions and products as established in the Organic Regulation of Process Management and the Statute. Another objective of this process was to raise awareness and prepare the university community for the internal and external evaluation processes that will lead to accreditation. The primary outcome of this strategy was a first Institutional Diagnosis, which resulted in a series of alerts at the academic and administrative department levels, which served as a foundation for improvement actions to be implemented by each department to enhance the quality of its procedures and services.
