Partial prosthesis as a prosthetic alternative in patients undergoing resective jaw surgery

OBJECTIVE: To establish the benefits of a removable partial prosthesis in patients undergoing resective jaw surgery. METHODS: A search was made within the scientific bases: Scielo, Pubmed, Google Academic, Contemporary Clinical Dentristy, Journal section: Oral Surgery, using articles published in the last 5 years, articles in English and Spanish were included with a total of 49 articles of which 30 were selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria for the present investigation. RESULTS: Of the 30 articles analyzed, 26 correspond to clinical cases and 4 to scientific articles. CONCLUSIONS: Oral rehabilitation with removable partial prosthesis for the reconstruction of maxillary defects in patients submitted to resective surgery, allows an improved function and a superior quality of life in patients adequately treated, providing a restoration of functional occlusion and leading to reintegration into society.
