Abstract
Object─ Urinary tract infections are common causes of morbidity with significant mortality rates, these can manifest in men and women at all ages, with different signs and symptoms. In view of this situation, the following research project is presented with the objective of determining the risk factors that influence the development of urinary tract infections in adolescent girls aged 12 to 17 years in the Ambrosio Andrade Palacios educational unit of the Suscal canton, This work was carried out by means of a descriptive, quantitative, prospective cross-sectional study, with a universe of 60 adolescents of female gender and in ages between 12 and 17 years, who underwent laboratory tests and surveys, obtaining as results that : of the total of 60 adolescents, 78% had urinary tract infection; in ages of 16 to 17 years, the majority of them being 65% indigenous, and 100% of the population is single; Among the risk factors for the development of UTI is voluntary urinary retention, in 68% of the population and 44% have an inadequate intimate hygiene results that allow to identify two factors of great importance that affect the tract infection. urinary.
