Quality of life, eating habits and adherence to the treatment of HIV-Aids patients

Abstract

To determine the quality of life, eating habits and adherence to the treatment of patients with HIV-AIDS at the Homero Castanier Crespo-Azogues Hospital. Methodology: Quantitative, descriptive cross-sectional study. We worked with a Sample: Census of 32 patients diagnosed with HIV-SID. Techniques and instruments: Technique-survey, instruments: The questionnaire to measure Quality of Life MOS-HIV SF 30, consists of 11 dimensions: general state of health / (quality of life), pain, daily activity, physical functioning, social functioning, mental health, energy-fatigue, malaise regarding health, cognitive functioning, perceived quality of life, health transition. SMAQ questionnaire to measure adherence to treatment, KRECE PLUS test to measure nutritional level. Results: Sociodemographic characteristics: 50.6%, 30-39 years, 50.6% single, 65.6% are men, 84.4% heterosexual, 50% do not consume substances, 56.3% are adherents, 43.8 % are not adherent. Overall quality of life score below 70, so 53.1% have a poor quality of life, 53.1% low nutritional level. Relationship between quality of life and nutritional level p = 0.047, general health status (quality of life) and perceived quality of life p = 0.002 and adherence to treatment and mental health of the patient p = 0.033. Conclusions: Escore global indicates that more than half have a poor quality of life, are not adherents to treatment, and have a low nutritional level. There is statistical significance between the variables: quality of life and nutritional level, general health status (quality of life) and general perceived health, adherence and mental health of the patient.
