Dengue is a problem which belongs to the public health area. In Latin America it has been reported for more than 200
years , whereas in Ecuador it has been recognized for some decades now. It has provoked high mobility and mortality rates.
In 2013 a total of 1894 cases were reported with an incidence rate of 14,13/100.000 infections which led to many sanity
problems. This Pathology in its two types classic and hemorrhagic fever has typical characteristics of the disease itself in
an incubation period that goes from 2 to 7 days, as the illness progresses symptoms such as fever, skin rash, bleedings in
the nose, hyperthermia with continuous fever of 39 Celsius degrees from 3 to 7 days start to appear . Afterward, there is
a period of defervescence, where hyperthermia disappears which may lead the patient to present symptoms of circulatory
insufficiency, changes to the circulatory system such as leucopenia and trombocitopenia. These symptoms may appear
in patients who have been diagnosed of hemorrhagic dengue. This might be followed by a recovery and convalescence
period. Such antecedents were the starting point for the Ecuadorian Public Ministry of health to establish protocols of
specific attention for patients who are diagnosed with the Dengue disease. These protocols contain the treatment and the
specific care that must be carried out by the sanitary personal. In order to assure the quick recovery and rehabilitation of
patient’s health.
