The Cone-Beam computed tomography is a tool that facilitates the diagnosis of different alterations of the temporomandibular joint by scanning and obtaining the specific volume of the patient's head, generating 3D results, with low radiation dose compared with the medical tomographs, which allows quantifying and qualifying skeletal tissues without distortions, with detailed and accurate information, to obtain reliable diagnoses. The purpose of this article is to sistematize the literature reported on the use of Cone Beam tomography as a diagnostic tool in patients with temporomandibular alterations, contributing as a reference didactic text, providing and summarizing the information published on this new technique.
