Complicaciones post-operatorias en la cirugía ortognática

Abstract

Introduction: Orthognathic surgery is a surgical intervention that is performed to correct dentomaxillofacial deformities, it is performed in patients who have a discrepancy in the position of the maxilla and the mandible, this means that there is no correct coordination in the mandible and the maxilla.
Objective: The objective of this research is to evaluate postoperative complications after orthognathic surgery, as well as to know its causes and consequences.
Methodology: To carry out this research article, academic sources, bibliographic searches, original articles, among other sources from academic Google, Scielo, Dialnet, Pubmed have been used, especially taking as the main point that they are reports of the last 5 years, in them We were able to extract updated information to generate a formal concept and also cite the information.
Results: In the 5 investigations present, the mean age of the operated patients was 32.22 years, 63.33% were women, the most common postoperative complication is hemorrhage and postoperative nausea, likewise we have postoperative anxiety, neurological deficit , infection, anatomical alterations, avascular necrosis, sensitivity alteration, alterations in the osteosynthesis systems, continuous, neuropathic and musculoskeletal pain.
Conclusions: It is concluded that orthognathic surgery is relatively safe and produces a low number of complications when performed by surgeons in training.
