Factores de riesgo del neonato asociados a la Policitemia

The aim of the manuscript is to describe the relationship between polycythemia and the risk factors for its presentation in neonates. The research is quantitative, descriptive, analytical and cross-sectional. A total of 1669 clinical histories of newborns were reviewed, between January 2014 and December 2015, registered in a second level of care public health center, which provides services to the provinces of Zone 6 of Ecuador (Azuay, Cañar and Morona Santiago). The results indicate that there are risk factors for the neonate to develop polycythemia. It is concluded that the factors "low birth weight", "small for gestational age newborn", "perinatal asphyxia" and maternal factors such as "history of preeclampcia" are significantly related to neonatal polycythemia
