¿Cómo, Cuándo y Por Qué se realiza un alargamiento de corona?

El término alargamiento de corona hace referencia a un procedimiento quirúrgico cuyo
propósito es reposicionar o exponer una mayor cantidad de estructura dental alrededor de uno
o varios dientes con fines estéticos o de restauración, mediante el reposicionamiento apical del
tejido gingival con o sin extracción de hueso alveolar o con cirugía estética. Esto dependerá de
las condiciones bajo las cuales se encuentra la cavidad oral, así como también la presencia de
patologías bucales, biotipo gingival, proporción corona-raíz, morfología dental. Esta revisión
de la literatura destaca o enfatiza las bases de la cirugía de alargamiento de corona, así como
sus indicaciones, contraindicaciones, diferentes técnicas, dispositivos o instrumentos utilizados
para realizar dicho procedimiento quirúrgico.
