Today, scientific and technological advances have allowed studies of plant species to increase to pharmaceutical development of new drugs that lead to counter the problems generated by the misuse of drugs and create antibiotic resistance. The objective of this study was to evaluate the in vitro antimicrobial activity of Taraxacum officinale on strains bacterial causing bovine mastitis against strains bacterial ATCC certified, for which a study was conducted with two types of obtaining extracts of the plant by percolation and soxhlet applying the method disc diffusion against strains E. coli, S. aureus and S. agalactiae found in milk samples and certified strains. To determine the antimicrobial activity it worked with a descending order of concentration 100%, 20%, 15%, 10% and 5%. Concluding that the extract of Taraxacum officinale sheets presented an antimicrobial effect on E. coli producing complete inhibition in bacterial growth, however, he did not provide antimicrobial activity against S. aureus strains and S. agalactiae, according to the results was performed applying lower concentrations of the extracts at 0.001%, 0.01%, 0.1% 0.5% and 1% to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration against E. coli, as to this activity it can be considered that the plant has an important source of compounds with antimicrobial activity, having a minimum inhibitory concentration of 0.01%
