Abstract

Therapeutic complementarity in patients with depression is the objective of this systematic literature review in which the contributions of combined therapy and its effectiveness in the improvement of symptomatology, relapses and prolongation of quality of life are evidenced. In addition, the elaboration of a protocol of therapeutic and pharmacological intervention adequate to our health and social reality will be carried out. The methodology used in this research is a descriptive theoretical documentary analysis, oriented to a qualitative approach of non-experimental design through a wide review of the main bibliographic scientific contributions for the realization of a therapeutic plan at pharmacological and psychotherapy level. As conclusions we could find that in the treatment of depression the combined intervention of cognitive behavioral psychotherapy and the use of psychotropic drugs fluoxetine and sertraline show greater efficacy than their application separately; thus answering our initial hypothesis of demonstrating the efficacy of the complementarity of the use of psychotherapy and psychopharmacology in major depressive disorder.
