Abstract

Introduction:Edentulism represents a contemporary problem in the area of pediatric care. There are several dental treatments for a correct and timely procedure. Objective: To identify research articles to guarantee new treatment alternatives in partially or completely edentulous children. Materials and Methods: The literature was selected by means of a search in the following electronic databases: Pubmed, Epistemonikos, SciElo, Cochrane, Nature, Google Academic, Pesquisa, Springer, Proquest, Taylor & Francis. The keywords used were: alternatives, treatments, children, edentulism, ectodermal dysplasia. The search was restricted to articles in English, Spanish and Portuguese published since 2012 Results: After applying the inclusion criteria, a total of 240 articles were obtained and reviewed. The literature review of Treatment Alternatives for edentulous children was performed. Conclusion: The available literature revealed that several research articles have been published that provide dental alternatives or treatments for edentulous children, and the use of procedures that emphasize and guarantee the quality of life of pediatric patients.
